What the Image Dimensions tag actually means
ImageWidth and ImageLength describe the stored file. PixelXDimension and PixelYDimension in the Exif IFD describe the dimensions of the original capture, which differ after cropping or resizing. Together with Orientation they fully define the geometry of the file.
Why it matters
No personal information is involved. The practical use is that identical dimensions are a reliable way to group photos as coming from the same device, which investigators and archivists use for exactly that purpose.
What to do about it
Keep it. There is no reason to remove dimensions, and stripping them can break some software.

Image Dimensions FAQ
Common questions about the EXIF image dimensions tag, its values and its privacy implications.
What is the difference between ImageWidth and PixelXDimension?
ImageWidth and ImageLength describe the file as it is stored. PixelXDimension and PixelYDimension describe the original capture, so after a crop or resize the two pairs will differ.
Do image dimensions reveal personal information?
No. They are purely technical. They can help group photos by device, but they contain nothing about a person, a place, or a date.
